The Y Chromosome Consortium (YCC) was a collaboration between many academic research labs to create a single working tree for the Y-Chromosome. This is the tree for humanity’s paternal ancestry.

Together they:

  • Created a unified tree
  • Established a new nomenclature
  • Set rules for how the tree was to be updated
