We review studies of genomic data obtained by sequencing hominin fossils with particular emphasis on the unique information that ancient DNA (aDNA) can provide about the demographic history of humans and our closest relatives. Haplogroup A2 is an Native Americas branch on the maternal tree of human kind. The woman who founded this line lived between 13,900 and 17,400 years ago (Behar et al 2012b).

B2

Haplogroup B2 is a branch on the maternal tree of human kind. Its age is between 14,200 and 19,400 years (Behar et al., 2012b).

A

Haplogroup A is a branch on the maternal tree of human kind. It is a child of major haplogroup N. It was likely born in East Asia around 24,000 years ago. (Behar et al., 2012b). Through historic travels, members of this line live across East Asia and the Americas.
