Italy is officially the Italian Republic. It is a country in Southern Europe.
The population of Italy is made up of approximately 62 million people.
In this country most people are ethnically Italian (95%). Aside from that, about 5% belong to other minority ethnic groups. These include Germans, French, Slovene-Italians (North-side), Albanian-Italians, and Greek-Italians (South-side).
Most of the people of this country are of Christian faith (80%), and others are Muslim, atheist, & agnostic (20%). There are an estimated 9,00,000 to a million Muslims residing in Italy.
The more common spoken languages are Italian (officially used), German, French, and Slovene.

Birth Country, Mother's Birth Country, and Maternal Grandmother's Birth Country have been normalized from DAR database fields. The Maternal Origin is determined based on the three previous fields.
