Iceland – A Place
Iceland is an island nation in the Atlantic ocean. It is considered part of Europe.
Iceland’s population around 400 thousand people. The ethnicity of the people is a unique mixture of descendants originating from the Norse and Celts (94%) and also remains (6%) of foreign ethnicity.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Iceland is the official religion of Iceland (69.9%). Roman Catholic (3.8%), no religious affiliations (6.1%), the Reykjavik Free Church (2.9%), Hafnarfjorour Free Church (2%), Asatru Association (1.1%), the Independent Congregation (1%), and other religions (4%) of Iceland are the other religions.
Some of the population’s (9.2%) language preference is unspecified. Many different languages are spoken in Iceland including Icelandic, English, the Nordic languages, and German.

The Hg ID is specific to this site and is used to protect the identities of those who take part in Genographic research. Birth Country, Mother's Birth Country, and Maternal Grandmother's Birth Country have been normalized from DAR database fields. The Maternal Origin is determined based on the three previous fields.
