The official language of Burundi is Kirundi. It is spoken by 29.7% of the population as their first language. Other languages include French (0.3%) and Swahili (0.2%).
There is a wide spread in ethnic groups as well. The majority of Burundi’s population are Hutu (85%), Tutsi (14%), and Twa (1%).
In the case of religious preference, the majority of people support Roman Catholic (62.1%), Protestant (23.9%), unspecified (7.9%), Muslim (2.5%), and the rest of them are classified as other.
