Modern Times

Most of the population is urban (42.3%).

The ethnic groups of Belize include Mestizo (52.9%), Creole (25.9%), Maya (11.3%), Garifuna (6.1%), East Indian (3.9%), Mennonites (3.6%), White (1.2%), Asian (1%), other ethnic groups (1.2%), and unknown (0.3%).

The majority of Belizeans religion is Roman Catholic (40.1%), also have Protestant (31.5%), Jehovah’s Witness (1.7%), and other groups’ ethnicity (10.5%) with unspecified (0.6%).

English is the official language of Belize’s people (62.9%). The second is Spanish, which is common for speaking (56.6%).
