Haplogroup H6 is a branch on the maternal tree of humanity. Its origin likely dates to the last ice age in Western Eurasia. Many members of this lineage live in Europe today, but they are most likely to trace their origins to groups of people who traveled to Europe during the Bronze age.
Most members of this lineage belong to one of its daughter branches.
National Geographic Geno 2.0 Text
Age: 15,300 ± 4,900 Years Ago
Origin: Central Asia
Blurb: This lineage was born in the Caucasus region around 15,000 years ago. From the Caucasus, groups containing this lineage spread across Central Asia and on to West Asia, then Europe.
Today, its highest frequencies are in Central Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. It is almost 10 percent of maternal lineages in Croatia. It is 7 percent of the population in the United Arab Emirates and 5 percent of the population in Slovenia and Lithuania. In Belarus, this line accounts for 4 percent of maternal lineages. It is about 3 percent of maternal lineages in Norway, Poland, and Wales.

mtDNA Haplogroup H6 Data Sources
GenBank Samples
GenBank is a database of genetic sequence data. It is run by the United States National Institute of Health. It serves as the main repository for mtDNA full sequence profiles. Samples come both from published academic literature and donations from genetic genealogy community members. In addition to GenBank samples, listings below may include other samples published but not submitted to GenBank such as those from the HapMap project.
Note: GenBank results currently use Phylotree build 16. I am working on changing results over to build 17.
