In human genetics, CCR5 is a gene on chromosome 3. It is known in popular science by the Delta 32 mutation. This mutation is a deletion of part of the CCR5 gene. Those with two copies of the deletion may be more resistant to HIV, the plague, and other disease. However, results in publication are inconsistent.
